After a difficult year for all clubs last year I am excited to work with the committee this year to bring AUScA back on campus! I love meeting new people and having a chat :) This year I want to grow AUScA and provide events for all our members to engage with like-minded science-lovers. |

Degree: 3rd Year Bachelor of Science Palaeontology
Major (and any minors): Paleontology and Evolutionary Biology (Double Major) Hobbies: Cooking and going to the gym Facts about me: I’m a Malaysian dude that decided to come to Adelaide to study in the University of Adelaide, subsequently falling in love with the culture and people here. I joined AUScA as it was an esteemed and highly accoladed group, being the oldest non-sporting club in the university, and seeing them bring all kinds of people together in a common kinship resulted in me wanting to play a role in this and to do my best. Roles/Goals in AUScA: As the third-year representative, I speak for all third year members of AUScA and it is my job to represent them and their ideals as best as I can, and doing what I can to steer the club in a direction that would be enjoyable for them. |

Degree: 3rd Year Bachelor of Commerce
Major (and any minors): Corporate Finance and Accounting Hobbies: Travelling, Hanging out with friends and Dogs Facts about me: I’m back at Uni after taking a break to be a manager for a National corporate company. I love working with numbers and money and am extremely passionate about science Roles/Goals in AUScA: As the Treasurer it is my role to manage the accounts and budgets for every single event our club plans. My goal is to set a standard of recording transactions and event information for future committees to continue. |

Degree: Bachelor of Science (Honours)
Major (and any minors): Malaria Biology Interests/Hobbies: science (obviously), bike riding, bouldering, reading. Facts about me: I am a regional student and managed to complete my Bachelor of Science (Advanced) degree majoring in ‘Biochemistry’ and ‘Microbiology and Immunology’. I love socialising with friends and meeting new people on campus as well as getting my daily fix of lab work. Roles/Goals in AUScA: I have been a member of AUScA since my first year of uni in 2018 and have been involved with the committee since 2020. My position within the general committee last year allowed me to meet so many new people despite being off campus for majority of the year. This year I would love to help bring even more fun events to the table and continue building AUScA into the science community - hopefully I will see you around! |

Interests/Hobbies: Hikes, Dogs, Travelling around SA, Almond Lattes and Brunch! Facts about me: This is my third year as part of AUScA! The highlight of my uni career was spending a semester abroad at the University of Nottingham! I was also lucky enough to be apart of the WISC program with some amazing women!! Roles/Goals in AUScA: As one of two Coco’s my role is to keep all our members up to date with our events. My goal this year is to share as many science opportunities as I can find whether it’s paid or volunteer to help expose our members to some great experiences and opportunities!! |

Major (and any minors): Chemistry (double) Interests/Hobbies: Dance, Acting, Modelling, Fitness, & Chocolate Facts about me: I’ve been a dancer for many years now, mainly ballet and contemporary. I did it all including academy student, company dancer, choreographer, teacher. Basically I just can’t sit still! Roles/Goals in AUScA: As a communication officer I help run all social medias for the club, ensuring that all members are well informed of the events we will hold. Being the first year as an AUScA committee member, I wish to increase the quality and quantity of content seen on social media. |

Degree: Master of Philosophy (No Honours) in Molecular & Cellular Biology
Major (and any minors): Biochemistry and Microbiology & Immunology (from BSc(adv)) Hobbies: Reading, baking, Netflix and finding new favourite restaurants/cafes/bars Facts about me: I grew up on a farm on SA’s far west coast but I have never been much of a farm or country girl. I am incredibly passionate about science and usually can’t stop talking about it if you get me started! I’ve also worked on and off in a pharmacy for the past four years to help support myself through uni. Roles/Goals in AUScA: In the newly created role of events officer I am aiming to organise a series of events this year, in collaboration with the rest of the committee, that are fun and engaging. I hope that these social and networking events will provide an opportunity for science students to develop the personal and professional connections to support them through university and beyond. |

Interests/Hobbies: Plant photography, watercolours, hiking, reading manga and covering myself in mulberry juice & having a dance Facts about me: I’m originally from Alice Springs but now live in Adelaide. In my masters I research pigments in plants called anthocyanins using mass spectrometry! Roles/Goals in AUScA: To build bridges between the AUScA and postgrad communities at the university. |

Hobbies: Video games, anime, basketball and spending time with my cat. Facts about me: I grew up in my home country (Yemen) then moved to Kenya for 3 years once the war broke out and now I’m here for uni! I pretty much spend most of my time playing video games and watching anime so I don’t get out of the house unless I’m either shopping or going to uni haha. Roles/Goals in AUScA: As the second year representative, my role is to be the voice of all second year members of AUScA and to make sure that they are comfortable and happy with their experience with the club :) |

Major (and any minors): Microbiology/Immunology and Biochemistry Interests/Hobbies: Singing to my ukulele, cooking, meeting new people, learning about different cultures and binge watching and regretting later of course. Facts about me: I am immensely fascinated with the tiny yet colossal world of microorganisms and love Reading about space and the world beyond our planet (either microscopic or extremely massive there’s no in between). Roles/Goals in AUScA: Be an active part of the university sciences community and establish healthy friendships with like minded people, such that we all continue to grow and learn together, while having fun of course! |

Degree: Honours Degree of Bachelor of Science
Major (and any minors): Biochemistry Interests/Hobbies: I really enjoy sports, and have played and competed in many codes across the last 10 years, including AFL, soccer, basketball, rowing, cycling, cricket, athletics and surfing. I also love video games and netflix. Facts about me: I love plants and have filled my room with as many plants as I can. I secretly take plants out of the salad to propagate in my room, and I've successfully grown watercress and sweet potato from the salad bowl. Roles/Goals in AUScA: As a new member of AUScA, I want to get to know as many people as I can. I always try to make sure I can be as approachable as possible for my peers, so getting to know lots of people is a great first step, and will help me properly represent the first year students. |

Major (and any minors): Genetics Major Interests/Hobbies: I just started playing Aussie rules footy for the uni team and I also like to go bouldering and wakeboarding. I absolutely love going out for drinks with friends, and dancing (when nightclubs allow it). Facts about me: I did a summer internship over the holidays and it was the best experience ever! I now know I definitely want to pursue a career in genetics research. I start honours mid year and I can’t wait for it! Roles/Goals in AUScA: This is my first time being part of a university club and I’m so excited for it. My goal is to provide as much input as possible and help the club grow through social events. |

Roles/Goals in AUScA: To enhance the presence and size of AUScA through sponsorship partnerships. |
AUScA Committee Roles
President:
The role of the President is to lead all other Committee members, ensuring the Club is running as well as it could and the planning of events is moving forward. The President is also in charge of running the meetings, and will act as a Spokesperson for the Club.
Vice-President:
The Vice-President assists the President, and is in command should the President be absent, or resign. Traditionally, the Vice-President is also the Head of SciBall planning, with the help of an elected Subcommittee.
Secretary:
The Secretary is the record-keeper of the Club, writing the agenda and taking the minutes for every meeting. The Secretary is also in charge of scheduling of Committee members and volunteers for all events.
Treasurer:
The role of Treasurer is to be in charge of the financials of the Club. They are in charge of handling the Club's bank account, financing each event, grant applications, and bookkeeping.
Communications Officer (2 persons):
Communications Officers are in charge of Social Media Interactions, the Club email, and the Club website. The role is shared amongst two people, as Communications Officers must be prepared to draft and post or email announcements under short notice, which is difficult with only one Communications Officer.
Traditionally one of the Communications Officers is also selected to be in charge of Pub Crawl planning.
Events Officer:
The role of the Events Officer is to handle the planning of various Events held throughout the year and to independently organise a networking event for our members. They are responsible for the booking of venues, contacting relevant stakeholders and liaising with the Sciences Faculty.
Design Officer:
The role of the Design Officer is to create and design all the graphics needed for our events and marketing.
First Year Representative:
The First Year Representative is the voice on the Committee that provides the perspective of a First Year student, and is a representative of their Year Level.
Second Year Representative:
The Second Year Representative is the voice on the Committee that provides the perspective of a Second Year student, and is a representative of their Year Level.
Third Year Representative:
The Third Year Representative is the voice on the Committee that provides the perspective of a Third Year student, and is a representative of their Year Level.
Honours/Postgrad Representative:
The Honours/Postgrad Representative is the voice on the Committee that provides the perspective of an experienced student, and is a representative of Honours and Postgrad students.
